Toronto / Forest Hill North - 2025
This high-traffic corner lot in a busy front yard shared with pedestrians, cars, and dogs underwent a complete lawn replacement, with the entire front yard removed and replanted with approximately 400 native perennials, a flagstone path, and a natural stone border. The neighbouring yard is pictured for contrast. At approximately $5,000, this project reflects the higher costs associated with full lawn removal. These photos were taken in the fall after the first season, when plants are still getting established — a reminder that native plant gardens follow the "sleep, creep, leap" principle: in year one plants sleep, in year two they creep, and by year three they leap into their full glory, which is when the most dramatic transformation becomes visible.
